South Africa’s participation at the 2022 Hip Hop Unite World Championships in Óbidos, Portugal received special recognition when the South African Ambassador to Portugal, Ms Mmamokwena Gaoretelelwe, attended the event to show her support for the national delegation. The visit was a significant moment for the SASAFF group, who were honoured by the Ambassador’s presence during the championship programme from 27 to 29 October 2022.
Her attendance offered strong encouragement to the South African dancers, coaches and officials competing at the international event and highlighted the growing global presence of South Africa’s hip hop and performance sport community. The gesture reinforced the importance of national representation abroad and the pride associated with showcasing South African talent on world stages.
